The Dallas-Fort Worth area saw fewer foreclosure filings in September, with filings down by more than 40%, the Dallas Morning News reports.
The paper explained the reasons behind the dramatic drop:
Lenders have scheduled about 2,100 homes for foreclosure auction in the four-county area, according to data from Foreclosure Listing Service Inc.
Foreclosure filings in North Texas have plunged this year because of the strong economy and rising residential values. Also, many lenders have shifted to handling problem home loans with short sales, property brokers say.
