One of North Texas’ most famous homes is about to hit the auction block. Anyone who’s ever driven North on Dallas’ Preston Road into the suburb of Prosper is aware of the home (stunning photo gallery below)
Sitting at 1280 North Preston Road in the Dallas suburb of Prosper is a spectacular mansion that was custom-designed by one of the most outspoken and flamboyant athletes to ever pass through the North Texas, NFL Hall-of-Famer Deion Sanders.
Sanders, who played both professional football and professional baseball, had the massive home built in 1999 and has added on to it several times, most recently in 2001, according to Collin County property records.
The 29,000 square foot home features 10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a screening room, a bowling alley, an arcade, indoor and outdoor pools, a full-sized football field (complete with uprights), an indoor basketball court with two baskets, a sauna, a barber shop, and the home backs up to an 8-acre lake with a central fountain and private dock.
All told, the “Lone Star on Preston” estate sits on 9.4 acres.
And that’s just the beginning.
Sanders’ total holdings also included the surrounding approximately 82 acres of land. The home itself has reportedly been on the market since 2009 and was recently listed for $12.9 million. Sanders listed the home for $21 million in 2011, when he was in the midst of very nasty divorce from then-wife Pilar.
In August, Sanders sold the home and the surrounding land to Bloomfield Homes, a homebuilder in the Dallas area. When Sanders moved out of the home, he tweeted the following:

Bloomfield will now reportedly build three phases of homes on the land it purchased from Sanders.
According to prolific Dallas real estate blog CandysDirt.com, Bloomfield will have 50 home lots in the first phase of homes on the site. The homes will also reportedly be more upscale than other Bloomfield developments.
But what will happen to the massive home that was once the backdrop for the TV series, Deion & Pilar: Prime Time Love?
Well, the home is now on the auction block, according to Concierge Auctions, which is handling the auction.
“At 29,000 square feet, Lone Star on Preston is the definition of luxurious living,” Concierge Auctions’ website said of the property. “Surrounded by every convenience one can imagine — professional screening room, bowling alley, arcade, indoor and outdoor pools, and even a basketball court— there’s no need to leave unless you want to.”
Sanders had the home built in 1999 and it is ostentatious, even by Texas standards.
According to the Concierge Auctions website for the property, the home features “soaring ceilings with large crown moldings, black granite details, marble inlay floors, multiple gas fireplaces, gold faux-finish walls, Brunelleschi and Bernini-inspired columns with Corinthian capitals, and circular rooms designs and walls of curved windows.”
The master bedroom features “a separate sitting area, glass wall rotunda with views of pool, extensive built-in cabinetry, custom circle bed with built-in headboard and side tables, black granite gas fireplace, and a walk out patio to outdoor entertainment.”
The master bathroom features “double entry glass doors, his-and-hers vanities with art deco inlayed cabinets and brass fixtures, black granite with gold and bronze flecks adorning the floors, counters, and walls, cut-glass chandelier and coordinating sconces, sunken-jetted tub, separate double-shower with body sprays and built-in television, gas fireplace with space for television above, two large skylights with custom etched windows, his-and-hers custom closets with vanities, shared private Asko laundry, kitchenette with stovetop and fridge within, a spiral staircase to second level of closet and access to private 2-car master garage.”
The house also features multiple additional garages with space for 14 total vehicles.
Concierge Auctions said that the home is selling “without reserve” to the highest bidder on November 18.
But don’t shed a tear for the former Dallas Cowboy and don’t think he plans to downsize either. Last week, Sanders tweeted that he had closed on a 106-acre plot of land and planned to “build it all over again baby.”
