Affordable housing-focused originator joins Walker & Dunlop

Matt Naish will work with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and HUD to originate multifamily loans

Walker & Dunlop has announced that Matt Naish has joined the company’s multifamily finance group as senior vice president.

Naish will be based out of the company’s San Francisco office and will use the company’s strong relationships with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to originate multifamily loans.

Before joining Walker & Dunlop, Naish served as the director of affordable housing finance at Berkeley Point Capital and has previously held multiple roles with HUD, where he became an expert in affordable housing policy and FHA multifamily products. In his most recent position at HUD as senior advisor to the deputy assistant for multifamily housing programs, Naish was involved in national policy and reorganization efforts.

Don King, executive vice president at Walker & Dunlop, said the company's position as a top-five lender with Fannie Mae (#2 in 2016), Freddie Mac (#3 in 2016), and HUD (#4 in 2016) allows it to attract talented originators like Naish and will help the company continue to grow its multifamily presence across the country.

"Over his career, Matt has developed tremendous relationships in the multifamily finance space," King said. "His specialization in affordable housing finance makes him particularly valuable to the Company at a time when the Agencies are more focused than ever on finding ways to expand this underserved sector of the market. We are very excited to welcome Matt to the team!”
