FAR Hires Hultquist as VP, Organizational Development

Dan Hultquist, reverse mortgage product educator and author of “Understanding Reverse,” has been appointed Vice President of Organizational Development for Tulsa, Okla.-based Finance of America Reverse (FAR), the company announced Monday via a press release.

“[Hultquist] joins the firm’s Learning and Development practice and will play a key role in the ongoing development of compelling training and educational tools and materials across channels, including the financial planning and real estate communities,” said a press release announcing the move. He will report to Sherry Apanay, FAR’s Chief Development Officer.

“I’m excited about working with a team that is singularly focused on aging in place solutions, and this move allows me to rejoin many like-minded professionals with whom I’ve worked in the past,” Hultquist told RMD in an email.

FAR leadership expressed excitement in adding Hultquist to the company, which plans on taking advantage of his daily presence immediately.

“I am very excited about adding Dan to our already outstanding team of educators at FAR,” said Sherry Apanay in an email to RMD. “We are dedicated to helping people focus on retirement and elevating the working knowledge of Reverse Mortgage Professionals. Lorraine Geraci, VP of Learning and Development will continue to be a driving force in our efforts and she and I are both excited to collaborate with Dan on some new and exciting initiatives. We have the best team at FAR and it just keeps getting better!”

Hultquist also told RMD that his move to FAR comes at a very interesting time for the reverse mortgage industry due to recent program changes and the increasing availability of new product offerings.

“I’ve always been bullish on reverse mortgages, but this is a very interesting time in our industry. We saw increased home value limits for the federally-insured Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) for 2019 and falling long-term rates that allow even higher principal limits,” he said. “But FAR has been driving other positive trends that interested me, including the proprietary reverse mortgage market that’s gaining momentum and the retirement planning message that is available through FAR’s Illustrator tool.”

With the help of FAR’s established Learning and Development program and executive leadership, Hultquist added his belief that the company can, “make housing wealth a mainstream retirement planning strategy.”
