Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom drop $14.2 million on Montecito mansion

When it comes to Hollywood stars who want to high-tail it away from the prying eyes of Los Angeles, many head to the picturesque Santa Barbara County enclave of Montecito. So it’s no wonder that Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, who just welcomed daughter Daisy Dove back in August, dropped $14.2 million on a nearly nine-acre compound in the peaceful seaside community just last month, according to Variety.

Built in 1934, the couple’s new home is actually composed of four different parcels of land. Located up a long, tree-lined driveway and tucked behind gates, the three-story Mediterranean villa features a grand rotunda entryway. Two staircases greet you in the foyer, with the first guiding guests downstairs to the lower-level office and conference room, while the other cascades upstairs to the bedrooms.

Hardwood floors stream throughout the main floor, including the oversized living room that has a whopping five sets of French doors that embrace the indoor/outdoor aesthetic southern California is known for. A chef’s kitchen features every top-of-the-line amenity you’d expect from an estate of this grandeur, as well as a huge island and butler’s pantry.

Upstairs, the luxe master suite makes up more than half of the upper level, featuring every amenity you could dream of, ranging from dual bathrooms and a fireplace to a glam area and massive walk-in closet. There’s even a private patio with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.

As you’d expect from a celebrity compound of this size, the main house isn’t the only structure on the property. There’s also a guest house, as well as a pool house that accompanies the intricately tiled swimming pool and covered patio. Throughout the property, you’ll also find a full-size tennis court, endless grassy lawn space, and plenty of fountains and beautiful gardens filled with flora and fauna. Mature oak trees dot the land, creating a beautiful natural landscape.

Located south of the Santa Ynez Mountains, Montecito is almost as famous for who calls it home as it is for its rolling hills and stunning coastline. Stars like Oprah WinfreyEllen DeGeneres, and new residents Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have sought out Montecito for decades, eager to embrace its laid-back vibe and natural beauty.

Katy Perry, who herself hails from the Santa Barbara area, previously hung her hat in a pair of Beverly Hills estates. Just last month, she listed her 4140-square-foot home for $7.95 million, while she has also owned a sprawling $19 million spread in the Coldwater Canyon section of town since 2017. As for Orlando Bloom, shortly after getting engaged to Perry last year, he listed his own Beverly Hills pad that he bought back in 2017.

According to Variety, the property was sold to Perry and Bloom by C. Robert Kidder, the former CEO of Chrysler and Duracell. While it was originally listed for $20 million, the price was chopped down to $16 million before Perry and Bloom entered negotiations. They may be some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities, but they still know a bargain when they see it.
