The overwrought and overworked world of compliance officers is generally hidden from public view.
Compliance officers are the coffee-stained wretches (think Bob Cratchit) with the unenviable role of scrambling through statutes, rules and tiny footnotes to ensure compliance with every TILA, RESPA and Dodd-Frank rule imaginable.
And do you hear them complaining? No. But that’s probably because they suffer from Dodd-Frank Syndrome, or they may be secretly catching some zzz’s at their desk while having nightmares about the qualified mortgage rule.
No stranger to the problem, compliance software provider QuestSoft is tackling what the firm humorously calls “Dodd-Frank Syndrome” in a funny holiday video. The team’s holiday carolers manage to include virtually every Dodd-Frank rule and compliance issue into a Christmas carol. Of course, the shear size of Dodd-Frank pretty much rules out the “12 days of Christmas,” but you get the point.
The QuestSoft video (below) is a parody of a PBS telethon, featuring a quirky campaign to end Dodd-Frank Syndrome among compliance officers for the Compliance Officer’s Relief Fund.
What seems a joke actually features some quality caroling from QuestSoft team members. It’s a wonder these compliance officers don’t just quit their day jobs and run off to Broadway.
Be sure to check out the rework of Carol of the Bells in the last minute of the video, it’s pretty well-thought out, well-rehearsed and well-executed.
