HousingWire’s Managing Editor, Brena Nath, joins Judi Fox, a LinkedIn business coach, to show attendees the latest strategies and updates on LinkedIn and share a few insights on managing a professional social media platform.
Here is a small preview of the session, which has been lightly edited for length and clarity:
Brena Nath: So what are some of the biggest changes that you’ve seen on LinkedIn since we last talked in June?
Judi Fox: So I would say creator mode has been really, really powerful. They just rolled it out in April and May of 2021. So if you don’t know what that is, it is so fresh and brand new to all of what you know about LinkedIn. I would say your first thinking about creator mode is LinkedIn acknowledging from the top down that creators exist, the influencer economy exists. So they want to create influencers and creators and actually use the platform, like social media, not just a place for a job board.
You get to feature yourself and your content in five hashtags. So you can become a content creator within five hashtags that you want to be seen in. That is powerful for real estate, for mortgage, for everyone. You can literally say, “Hey, LinkedIn, I want to be featured in these hashtags.” Blows my mind. The next thing is they’re going to prioritize you becoming an account people can follow, and they’re going to prioritize your content on your profile. They’re literally turning you into a content creator, and all you have to do is turn it on. It’s in your dashboard.
