Better is a mortgage origination company operating primarily through an online platform. Beyond mortgages, the company also offers real estate, title, and homeowners insurance services. The company sells the mortgages it originates to a series of secondary market investors including Fannie Mae and Wells Fargo, and obtains leads from personal finance companies including Credit Karma and NerdWallet.

While the business that would give rise to Better was initially founded in 2014 by Vishal Garg, Better itself launched in 2016 and is based in New York City.
