The Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO) is the real estate finance industry’s standards organization, and is a subsidiary of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). It developed a common language for exchanging information for the mortgage finance industry, and they are required by most regulators, housing agencies and the GSEs that participate in the industry.
Founded in 1999, MISMO is based in Washington, D.C.
