Anthony Lamacchia on commission lawsuit mayhem
In today’s RealTrending, Anthony Lamacchia, CEO and founder of Lamacchia Realty and Crush it in Real Estate, passionately shares why the commission lawsuits are wrong and why the industry must start speaking out.
Not one to shy away from confrontation, Lamacchia hits the issue head on with his real-life view of how the commission lawsuit outcomes will hurt buyers. Lamacchia also discusses his phone call with Michael Ketchmark, the plaintiffs’ attorney in the Sitzer Burnett and Gibson cases.
Here is a small preview of today’s interview. The transcript below has been lightly edited for length and clarity:
Tracey Velt: You’ve been very vocal about how you feel about the cases, and I want to talk to you about why you’re so passionate about it and why you chose to speak when others haven’t. Are you concerned? I know you’ve run a lot of this through your attorneys, so talk to me about your passion for it and some of the things that you have highlighted in your videos.
Anthony Lamacchia: Overall with the cases, I feel that in the public eye we should be more aggressive, but that doesn’t mean that I’m somehow going to turn against the other defendants or turn against NAR. There’s no possibility of that happening whatsoever. I know that I might be pushing the limits a little bit with some of the things that I’m stating, but I really don’t care because someone has to stand up for our industry.
If folks that are at the top of the organizations don’t want to because they’re concerned about potential legal ramifications, that’s fine. That’s their choice, but I have my choice too. And I’m not going to sit around and let us be called the cartel and hear all these things that frankly drive me crazy and just sit back and take it. I think it’s wrong. I know why they’re doing it. They’re doing it to get the media to bite.
