Barry Habib on why 2021 will be a year of growth
Today’s HousingWire Daily features a Housing News podcast crossover episode with MBS Highway and CEO Barry Habib. In this episode, HousingWire Editor in Chief Sarah Wheeler and Habib launch season 5 of the podcast by discussing MBS Highway’s 2021 housing market forecast.
Here is a small preview of today’s interview, lightly edited for length and clarity:
Sarah Wheeler: It sounds like your forecast is pretty positive. I mean, coming into 2021, it seems like we have some daylight shining through, right? Almost like there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. When you think about vaccines and people getting back to work, you think about a potentially stable government. However, we’re not quite there yet. So, are you and your forecast optimistic?
Barry Habib: With regards to interest rates and the real estate market, we have a really optimistic forecast for 2021. This will be a year of certain individuals gaining enormous opportunity and creating generational wealth for themselves. And while it will be a life-changing year, it’s also going to be a year that so many will look back and say, ‘Wow, that was a great opportunity, but I missed out on so much.’ That’s because while building a good burger shop might be okay and profitable this year, it would sure hurt to look back and say I missed a chance to build an empire for myself. And I think that almost every person listening to this has the chance to do it right now. It’s really in your hands. It’s totally in your control.
