Tracey Velt: You took over for a really great leader and you’ve then taken the company to to the next level. Tell me about what that entailed. Tell me about that progression toward where you want to be now.
Kamini Lane: We really are focused on not necessarily just adding heads. We don’t really talk about agent count in our business anymore, but are laser focused on bringing in true real estate professionals. One thing that’s been a big focus of mine, very early on, is that I restructured our leadership team to create seven regional presidents who have on the ground experience.
These are people who sit in brokerage offices. There are people who speak to agents every single day, and there are folks who can straddle that every day on the ground brokerage office expertise with high level strategic thinking that spans across the enterprise. I restructured so that those seven regional presidents are my executive team, and they all report directly into me. The benefit of that structure is that we have a really strong pulse on the day to day of the business. We’re able to shape the strategic direction and vision of the company based on what our agents are actually saying on a day to day basis.
