Every successful organization has a leader who doesn’t get all the accolades, but does a ton of work to keep things going. Debbie Freer is that person for Bright MLS. The head of marketing operations, Freer keeps the Bright MLS marketing organization on track, ensuring every deadline is hit, projects are resourced appropriately, and established budgets are not exceeded. Freer does all of this while also selflessly helping other functional teams with their resourcing and budgeting. 

Freer leads all the media buying and media planning for Bright, and her deep knowledge of marketing as a discipline, coupled with her diligence as an operations professional, make her the quintessential business-oriented Swiss Army Knife. She handled the media for Bright’s webby-award winning “Value of Open Marketplace” campaign where, over the course of six months, she worked with the media partners to track efficacy of the creative, monitored degradation of performance over time, and ensured that Bright refreshed and optimized the campaign to deliver strong returns for the duration. Freer’s work on optimization led to a 97% completion rate on skippable video ads – seven points better than industry average.

Freer has managed the contract processes for analytics and reporting for the marketing work that Bright does so that it can measure, track and optimize all of the marketing and campaign work done every year. 

Freer is selfless with her time and expertise, and is well-regarded by staff at all levels. She serves as a sounding board and mentor to numerous junior staff at Bright, both within marketing and external to the organization.
