A former mortgage banker, she is a proven industry leader and strategic thinker whose industry experience has driven product innovation across industry-leading companies.
Prior to joining Dark Matter in October 2023, Durflinger spent seven years at ICE Mortgage Technology, overseeing the product direction of Encompass, the mortgage loan origination system formerly owned by Ellie Mae. This evolution put her at the forefront of driving innovation of the modern LOS.
When approached by Dark Matter CEO Rich Gagliano to join the executive team to head product development, she jumped at the opportunity. As chief product officer, Durflinger is perfectly positioned to drive LOS innovation forward and help lenders better serve homebuyers in every market. The Empower LOS allows multiple processes to run concurrently with minimal lender intervention. It streamlines origination workflows, resulting in significant time and cost savings for banks, credit unions and independent lenders.
Under her leadership, Dark Matter earned a 2024 HousingWire Tech 100 award and has introduced a series of innovations, including piloting new applications of artificial intelligence in the origination workflow and opening up its API architecture to facilitate deeper collaboration with like-minded vendors. Most recently, the company rolled out a new feature for Empower that makes it easier for mortgage lenders and servicers to transfer assumable mortgages to new homebuyers — an industry first.
