Standowicz’s immense value at UWM is seen through her knack for identifying growth opportunities within her team and across the company, coupled with her ability to implement a strategic plan to capitalize on these opportunities. This allows for every element of the loan process to be analyzed and elevated, providing a faster, easier and cheaper process for all parties. In the beginning of 2024, she set a goal for her team to identify and implement 52 “underwriting inches,” or ways to improve the current process, enhance the client experience and ultimately boost UWM’s performance. By shortly after mid-year, the Underwriting team had accomplished 132 “inches.”
From streamlining the verification of business documentation for self-employed borrowers to discovering new ways to raise visibility for clients on affordability products their borrowers may be eligible for, Standowicz has a direct role in implementing changes that optimize UWM’s business process, helping the company maintain its position as the number one mortgage lender in the country.
Standowicz also prioritizes helping the team members she leads improve professionally and personally. She ensures that everyone is fully aware of the goals they set for themselves and are aligned with how to reach these goals. Whether it’s strategizing a plan on how an underwriter can reach their increased commitment goal or helping develop leadership skills for a team member, she is always willing to go above and beyond to nurture every team member’s potential.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Dream big. Don’t shy away from challenges and don’t be afraid to fail. Achieving ambitious goals is never easy, but by doing so, you’re able to push yourself and maximize your potential. To truly grow, you must learn to be comfortable being uncomfortable and understand that you learn more from your failures than you do from your successes.
