Ben Madick

Ben Madick’s career began in correspondent lending at Bank of America. After co-founding MQMR, a firm that performs compliance risk management and audit support to mortgage lenders and banks of all sizes, Madick identified a problem with loan closing delays due to proof of insurance not being in place. He created Matic to simplify the world of insurance with a P&C marketplace built for lenders and servicers. Since its go-to-market launch in 2017, Matic has experienced high growth based on revenue, valuation, and team size while maintaining an off-the-charts Net Promoter Score of 90 among Matic policyholders.

Madick is passionate about creating a culture of teamwork, transparency and fun. He was named a “Best CEO For Women” two years in a row by Comparably. Matic was named a Top Workplace of 2023 by Columbus CEO and a “Best Place to Work” for five years in a row by Columbus Business First, a direct result of Madick’s focus on cultivating a positive culture.

In 2019, Madick created the Matic Cares Foundation to support causes that uplift local communities and embody the values and culture of Matic. Every quarter, Matic employees organize a charitable event that directly benefits organizations, agencies, individuals, or families in need, such as The Trevor Project, the American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Human Rights Campaign, and the Kaleidoscope Youth Center, through fundraising efforts and in-person volunteering.

Madick serves as an advisor to MQMR, providing high-level, strategic direction. He is also an angel investor and advisor to other early-stage startups, primarily in the insurance and fintech space.

What is one habit you swear by?

The one habit would be making work fun. Infusing fun into team activities such as offsites, meetings and virtual gatherings with emojis and virtual backgrounds can help foster a culture of trust and employee happiness. Finding ways to have fun every day at work keeps motivation high, reduces stress, and ultimately contributes to a positive environment where teammates can be more transparent with one another, leading to more collaboration and success.
