Many in the complex mortgage and fintech ecosystem preach the importance of being “in the trenches,” and Sagent CEO Geno Paluso is the rare exec who actually knows what this means. Prior to taking over Sagent this year in his latest private sector technology leadership role, Paluso had a career as a highly decorated military leader, U.S. Navy captain, Navy SEAL, and commander of multiple SEAL teams deployed to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He knows how to inspire and motivate highly trained experts to complete technical and ambitious missions, and he brings this collaborative intensity to Sagent’s mortgage tech teams, who are building the future of America’s $14 trillion servicing sector.
Paluso’s first major initiative since joining Sagent in February 2024 was launching Dara, the industry’s only mortgage software platform to unify all data and user experiences for servicers and homeowners across the servicing lifecycle. Dara is being built by Sagent’s global teams of mortgage technology specialists, and brings all of mortgage servicing into one root system — a first for the industry, and an ambitious leap for an industry that is moving faster than ever with Paluso’s leadership.
Two examples of the expert-led efficiency Paluso has brought to Sagent are giving product and engineering teams decision-making power and hiring key mortgage veteran execs like new Sagent CFO Jaime Gow, who serves as a strategic planning partner to Sagent customers.
Paluso was recognized with the 2024 American Hero Award for his service in the global war on terror, reflecting his dedication and integrity both in and out of uniform. His longstanding leadership in nonprofit organizations such as One80 Place and SEALKIDS mirrors the same level of commitment and excellence he brings to his role at Sagent.
