Michele Bodda, a powerhouse in the financial services sector, has an impressive career that spans the breadth of Experian’s offerings and demonstrates the critical ways in which data and analytics can be used to guide and inform consumers and the businesses that serve them. She leads three teams at Experian, all focusing on leveraging data and analytics to revolutionize old practices. A well-respected leader in the mortgage space, she serves on boards designed to advance mortgage lending and champion greater diversity within the industry.

Bodda began her career at Experian more than 26 years ago, first as a customer service rep in Consumer Credit and then as head of Wealth Insight Services. Bodda became senior VP of strategic alliances and partnerships, then general manager of Experian Mortgage and Credit Solutions, and finally president of Experian Housing, Verification Solutions and Employer Services.

Bodda and her team work to empower consumers with the data they need to purchase the homes they deserve. At Experian Verification Solutions, Bodda oversees the development of technology-fueled, user-friendly solutions that users can rely on to operate a safe and secure business. At Experian Employer Services, Bodda promotes services that provide employers powerful data and flexible technology.

Bodda believes that homeownership is the greatest driver of generational wealth, and that it is more crucial than ever that the housing industry focuses on how to make the dream of owning a home more attainable for underserved populations. Data, she says, is a critical piece of this puzzle, helping drive financial inclusion as the industry works to expand the types of data and score models that can be used to make mortgage decisions. 

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing your best.” This was drilled into me as a child and it has informed the way I approach everything I do. It underscores the fact that while I might not be the best at everything, there is always value in trying my hardest, and if I do that, I can stand by my work.
