2024 Woman of Influence: Anita Blue

Anita Blue

Anita Blue is the first Black leader of the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance and has led the organization’s continued growth to more than 4,000 members. The Alliance is one of the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ trade organizations.

Blue grew up in rural Louisiana in the 1970s without LGBTQ+ friends or role models. Looking for opportunity, she joined the Air National Guard and moved to Anchorage, Alaska. While serving in the military, Blue gained leadership experience managing the Military Equal Opportunity office at what is now known as the National Guard’s 147th Attack Wing. Her job was not only supporting diverse military members but also working hard to ensure that diversity-led companies had equal access as suppliers. She got to see first-hand how DEI programs help positively change the organizational culture.

Blue has been involved with the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance  since its founding in June 2020. Along with guiding the continued growth of the organization, Blue has been heavily involved in the development of the Alliance’s chapter program that now has about 50 thriving local groups. She is also heavily involved in the Alliance’s advocacy work including the effort to have the industry welcome the “Article 10 rule” which calls on local associations and their RPAC groups to refrain from funding discriminatory political figures.

Blue is also engaged in the alliance’s continued recognition of the diversity within its membership. This includes allowing transgender, non-binary, Black, Hispanic, Asian and other underserved groups to be heard and have a home.
