As one of the lead strategists behind innovations to Freddie Mac’s automated underwriting system, Christina Randolph and her team continue to drive the digitization of the mortgage industry while helping to reduce risk and expand homeownership opportunities. Recently promoted to vice president, she now oversees new business development, customer service and partner strategy and integration, which manages prospecting and approving new sellers, 1-800-FREDDIE call center operations and relationships and integrations for hundreds of origination, servicing and secondary market technology providers. As she advances in her career, she also becomes increasingly dedicated to advancing the lending experience for sellers and consumers by optimizing the distribution of Freddie Mac’s tools and capabilities within software partner platforms that Freddie Mac clients use, and passionate about identifying new opportunities to further automate and digitize the mortgage process.

Under Randolph’s leadership, Freddie Mac is making real progress in using technology and data to help lenders reach more qualified borrowers and make their loan processes more efficient. The company’s automated underwriting tool, LPA, has been updated with important enhancements to assess a borrower’s credit. Randolph and her team played a lead role in these advancements to LPA to help qualified borrowers with thin credit files. This includes looking at bank data, cash flow and on-time rental payments in loan purchase decisions.

Freddie Mac’s research shows that although loan origination costs are rising, those that utilize the digital tools in LPA save money, have shorter cycle times and have greater customer satisfaction. A fully digitized mortgage process can help save up to 40% in costs, and this is part of what Randolph and her team work to optimize at Freddie Mac every day.
