For more than 30 years, Courtney Leonard has helped lending companies establish and expand sound and responsible credit policies, while expediting opportunities for applicants to be thoroughly screened and approved for loans. As the modern economy grows, more gray areas present in terms of applicant loan eligibility, key data insights that help lenders build stable loan portfolios while preventing a repeat of the subprime lending crisis. Leonard’s leadership on a variety of company initiatives has been instrumental in helping Guaranteed Rate (GR) safely and responsibly open the doors of homeownership to more people.
Leonard began her career as a loan application processor, working her way up to leadership roles as VP of underwriting, VP product development, VP secondary pperations and VP of credit policy, chief credit officer. She joined Guaranteed Rate as SVP credit policy before ascending to her current role as EVP of credit policy. She also manages Guaranteed Rates credit policy board.
Beyond her work at GR, Leonard is an active member of the Credit Advisory committees for Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSE) as well as several ad hoc committees, including the QC Advisory Committee. She leads the Executive Credit Policy Committee for Guaranteed Rate and is a member of the GRI Industry Risk Committee. As a FHFA Credit and MBA board member, Leonard participates in the MBA FHFA Credit Score Initiative working group. She is an active board member at both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
